Many of our servers are on 1gbit ports with 100mbit 95 Percentile usage which is a method to meter bandwidth usage that allows clients to burst beyond committed base rate.

Incoming and outgoing traffic is sampled every 5 minutes and the top 5% removed. As long as the remaining monthly billing period peaks falls below 100mbit no overages occur. Overages above 100mbit 95th percentile will be billed at $0.50/mbit.
